Veneers

Veneers

Have you been thinking for a long time about getting your misshapen or chipped tooth restored? Well, the best way to restore a tooth that is chipped, cracked, or severely discolored is by using a dental veneer. A veneer is a porcelain restoration that mimics the contour of a natural tooth, but is very thin (just about as thin as a wafer). By bonding the veneer to your natural tooth, its shape, size, and aesthetics can be restored to normal.

Is a veneer custom-fabricated?

Of course! Every single dental veneer that we offer is customized according to the shape of the patient’s tooth and their oral condition. When you visit our dental practice, the dentist will clean your teeth and conduct a thorough diagnosis. Once you qualify the candidacy for veneers, the dentist will prepare your tooth by gently buffing or grinding it. This ensures a thin layer of enamel is removed from the tooth so that the veneer can fit in place.
The dentist will use a hand-held scanning device that looks quite similar to a wand. The exact contour of your tooth will be determined using this, after which the data will be shared with a dental laboratory. The veneer will be fabricated using a dental-grade ceramic material, which offers excellent durability and aesthetics. The dentist customizes it to match the appearance of your adjoining teeth perfectly.

Advantages of veneers

  • Veneers are highly durable. With regular usages, such as biting and chewing food, they hardly wear as much as the enamel.
  • Veneers are long-lasting. With optimum care and avoiding activities such as tearing open plastic bags with your teeth, biting into hard objects, etc. they last for several years together.
  • Veneers are virtually indistinguishable against your natural teeth. Their color, translucency, texture, etc. can be customized to mimic that of your natural teeth.
  • They are resistant to staining.
  • The process of bonding a veneer to your teeth is quite a simple one. In most cases, local anesthesia will not be required to numb the teeth or gums.
